Infectious Disease as a medical specialty provides an amazing opportunity to prevent illness and save lives via vaccination, from travel medicine to preventing childhood diseases. Cultures are impacted, armed forces crippled, and history is swayed by infection. Intervening by vaccination during an outbreak or to prevent an outbreak is powerful.
