Lately I have been considering the rich storytelling that existed in my family without being consciously labeled or celebrated.

Ranging from my mother’s active imagination and worst-case scenario building to my father’s bedtime stories that enchanted us with animal characters he created.

The day-to-day memories of elder members of the family. But also the half stories of family history that no one alive is sure of the details.

There are beautiful stories and sad stories. Stories of resilience and stories of failure and heartbreak.

People often underestimate the storytelling of their family, because the process is not named like being an author or historian.
