The dishwasher stopped working a couple weeks ago.

This has happened before, I would switch a few breakers and it would work again.

Unfortunately, no joy this time.

For the past few weeks, I pass the dishwash and press buttons hoping it will spring to life. It has not.

This is hardly the worst problem in the world.

However, the reduced workload of the dishwasher vs handwashing while caregiving for family is substantial.

Fatigued and facing a sink full of dishes last night, I again pressed the buttons.

It jumped to life, beeping with a lighted display. My heart leapt with joy!

I felt like the universe intervened to give me a bit of a break.

It got me thinking about the details of how the dishwasher came to be.
