When we moved to the refuge, one of my first purchases was fig trees.

I planted 5 in a sunny area that we have since filled with herbs and berries, too. My favorite fig variety is Violette de Bordeaux.

Sadly, I have had spotty luck with fruit but the ones that have grown have been delicious.

A friend read a book on fig care a few years ago and has had great success.

I am going to give some old-fashioned education a try and see if I can increase the production.
